Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has said that the end of decaying feudal system, corrupt political culture and dynastic politics had started. "Time is not far when educated, competent and honest people will be elected and reach in the assemblies," Altaf said while addressing party workers gathered at party head office, Nine Zero, to congratulate the newly-elected Senators of the party.
MQM leaders, officer-bearers and the newly-elected Senators Nasrin Jalil, Barrister Farogh Nasim, Syed Mustafa Kamal and Tahir Mashhadi were also present on the occasion. Altaf Hussain congratulated the newly-elected senators and party workers and asked the Senators to work honesty and serve the people by rising above the differences of caste, colour and creed.
He further asked them to show respect to the workers instead of looking down upon them as their servants. He directed them to raise their voice for the recovery of missing persons, rights of the oppressed people and abolition of the decaying feudal system in the Senate and other forums.
He said there were reports that up to Rs 350 millions were paid for one vote in the Senate elections which was in sharp contrast to the MQM's senators, who were elected without spending a single rupee. He said that the election of the MQM senators was the beginning of the real change in the country. Hussain said that the integrity of the country was being threatened, and big powers were playing an evil game against Pakistan. He said that it was incumbent upon the Senators to employ their best abilities for the integrity and security of the country.
