Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Friday claimed to have recovered an abducted doctor and arrested two alleged kidnappers in a joint raid from Surjani area. According to CPLC officials, the captive Dr Khalid Mehmood was kidnapped from Lyari Expressway along with his car on February 25, 2012, and the abductors, who earlier demanded a ransom of Rs 20 million for his release, settled the deal at Rs 5 million after negotiation.
They said the police party on a tipoff conducted raid at Khuda Ki Basti that led to have arrested two kidnappers namely Haroon and Muhammad Altaf and recovered the captive. They said that three other accomplices managed to flee from the scene under the cover of gunshots but police had managed to arrest two alleged kidnappers with weapons. Moreover, they said the raids are being conducted to nab other accomplices.
