Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has been honoured by the legend scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan who visited Ojha Campus to inaugurate the auditorium named on him "Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Auditorium". The inauguration ceremony was held on Friday at Ojha Campus which was attended by a large number of student and faculty members of the University.
Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan is the Founder of Pakistan's Nuclear Programme. He obtained degree of Bachelor of Science in 1960 from the University of Karachi. Subsequently, he studied in Berlin, West Germany and achieved high competence in metallurgical engineering from Holland and Belgium.
He is the pioneer of Pakistan atom bomb and has contributed immensely to the establishment of educational and research institutes in Pakistan besides numerous philanthropic work for the underprivileged people. He has been awarded twice with the highest Pakistani Award "Nishan-e-Imtiaz" and 42 gold medals by various national institutions and organisations.
At the inauguration ceremony, Professor Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor, DUHS in his welcome address praised the noble work performed by Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan and briefly mentioned the accomplishments of Dow University during last eight years. Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan in his address as the chief guest informed the audience about his past memories, education and its related events at Karachi. The audience comprising of DUHS students, staff and faculty members were absolutely thrilled and emotionalised during his speech. The huge crown in the auditorium gave standing ovation to the legend scientist, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.-PR
