Punjab textile industry: SNGPL fails to increase gas supply

The Sui Northern Gas Private Limited (SNGPL) has failed to increase gas supply to textile industry, as the MD pledged in his mid-February visit to Aptma. Industry sources said that gas supply is yet restricted to twice a week to each zone in Punjab on rotational basis, leaving 40 per cent capacity closed down, large number of textile workers jobless and loss of foreign exchange.
It may be noted that the MD SNGPL had assured of the Aptma members to resume four days a week gas supply from present two days a week. He was of the view that mercury would be improved to the extent that the SNGPL would be able to restore four days a week gas supply to industry.
