LSE index up by 19.79 points

Bullish sentiment prevailed at Lahore Stock Exchange on Wednesday and equities registered gains amid increased turnover on account of fresh buying in potential shares. The LSE-25 index was up by 19.79 points, closing at 3123.30 points against 3103.51 points of Tuesday, while volume increased to 1.794 million shares as compared to 955,511 shares.
The market opened on a healthy sign and stayed in positive zone as a result of buying support in potential scrips. The investors stayed on buying course and made entries in MCB Bank, National Bank, Askari Bank, Silk Bank, Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Engro Corporation, and Fatima Fertiliser keeping the market in green zone. OGDC, PSO, Cherat Cement, Pervez Ahmed Securities, Engro Foods and Lotte Pakistan PTA also supported the market.
However, selling pressure was seen in Tri-Pack Films, Habib Bank, Attock Refinery, Byco Petroleum, WorldCall Telecom, Lafarge Pakistan Cement and D.G. Khan Cement which closed in negative zone.
The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones. Of 95 active issues, 24 companies posted gains and 8 registered declines, while values of 63 companies remained unchanged.
MCB Bank improved by Rs 2.74, Fauji Fertiliser gained Rs 1.44, OGDC was up by 98 paisa and PSO by 95 paisa.
Tri-Pack Films lost Rs 4.00, Habib Bank declined by 28 paisa and Attock Refinery lost 14 paisa. Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim with trading of 263,723 shares topped the volume leaders while Fatima Fertiliser was stayed as runner-up with 231,786 shares.
