The International Customs Day is celebrated every year by the customs community across the globe. The Brussels based 177 member World Customs organisation is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and the slogan for the year is "Borders divide, Customs connects."
Connectivity, as far as Customs is concerned, encompasses two main players: customs-to-people connectivity which includes partnership with the business community and customs-to-institutional connectivity which includes co-ordination and co-operation between the Customs with the other governmental agencies and institutions at national, regional and international levels.
Pakistan Customs, being an active member of the international Customs family interacts with customs organizations of the other countries under the aegis's of the World Customs Organisation. This interaction helps support the smooth and lawful flow of goods, services people, technologies, capital, culture and ideas. This connectivity with the international organizations paves way for modernisation and economic development of the country.
Looking in this perspective, the Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, Karachi, aims to strive hard to take the connectivity theme forward through the year 2012 and shall put every efforts to put it into practice.
