Education Reform Committee constituted by the Government of the Punjab arranged a consultation on Punjab Compulsory Education Bill 2012 (Draft) to share concerns and different perspectives by different stakeholders to be incorporated in the draft bill.
Education Reform Committee Additional Secretary Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Nur speaking on this occasion assured that the education department is open to suggestions and recommendations from education practitioners and civil society organisations in order to strengthen (Draft) Punjab Compulsory Education Bill 2012.
The consultative dialogue was organised by the Pakistan Coalition for Education and the Alif Laila Book Bus Society. The meeting was chaired by Ch. Javed Ahmad, MPA and Chairperson Standing Committee on Education. Ijaz Ahmad member of the same committee, Nadeem Kayani (Programme Director, Directorate of Staff Development Punjab), Members of the civil society, representative from the Punjab Teacher Association and media personnel were also present on this occasion. Participants shared their views on the bill and gave suggestions.
The meeting was the first of a process including series of consultations on the draft bill. The Additional Secretary Education Reform committee and Chaudhry Javed (Chairperson Standing Committee on Education) welcomed the suggestions from all the participants and invited them to send their suggestions for further refining of the draft bill.
