Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that measures are being taken on emergent basis for controlling the situation created by drug reaction and the matter is being thoroughly probed. He was talking to newsmen after inquiring about the health of the patients affected by the drug reaction of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) medicines at Jinnah Hospital here Tuesday.
Members Provincial Assembly Khawaja Salman Rafique, Dr Saeed Elahi and Principal Professor Dr Javed Akram were also present on the occasion. He also said stern action would be taken in the light of inquiry against anyone found guilty of negligence or dereliction.
He said immediately after returning from Germany, he convened a meeting to review the situation and a number of decisions were taken to cope with the situation. "Provision of best treatment facilities to the patients was being ensured and special wards had been reserved in hospitals where doctors were looking after the patients with commitment and dedication.
He said that Medical Superintendent of Services Hospital had been made OSD due to poor performance. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister attended the Nimaz-e-janaza of Squadron Leader Chaudhry Masood Hussain who was martyred in an air crash in Turkey. The Nimaz-e-janaza of the Shaheed was offered at the Old Terminal and attended by Ambassador of Turkey in Pakistan Mustafa Hizlan as well as a large number of officers and Jawans of Turk and Pak Army.
On the occasion, the Punjab Chief Minister, the Turk Ambassador and senior officers of Pakistan Air Force laid wreaths at the body of the Shaheed. Squadron Leader Chaudhry Masood Hussain was deputed for training in Turkey where he met an accident. He was brother of former Member Provincial Assembly from Okara, Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain Chachar.
