The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication has recommended to the Virtual University to expand its network in rural and far-flung areas of the country by establishing its own campuses with a view to provide education at the students' doorsteps.
The Committee met under the chairmanship of Muhammad Bargjees Tahir at Virtual University of Pakistan, Lahore, to review its progress. Members Dr Talat Mahesar, Fazal Ali Shah Jeelani, Ms Anusha Rahman Khan, Advocate, Muhammad Saqlain Bukhari, Talib Hussain Nakai, Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, and Ms Parveen Mashood Bhatti were present in the meeting.
The committee appreciated the University's achievements and said it would support in disseminating this noble cause at every possible platform. The committee also commended the University's role in educating the nation by providing international quality education at affordable cost.
The committee members also appreciated the idea of the University management introducing its educational system at primary level all over the country, and directed the management to submit proposals in order to support them in facilitating at school level across the country. Earlier, Virtual University Rector Dr Naveed Malik gave a presentation and highlighted the university's success and future plan to disseminate education.
