Scrutiny of commercial cargo: SCCI for proper mechanism to simplify process

President, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Afan Aziz has called for safeguarding of genuine exporters of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He expressed these views during a meeting with officials of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) here on Saturday.
Accompanied by SCCI Senior Vice President, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, former president Riaz Arshad, Ex-vice President Faiz Muhammad Fazi and Asif Khan, SCCI president met with Brigadier Muhammad Ameer and Joint Director Lieutenant Colonel Allah Nawaz Afridi. Other officials Major Iftikhar Ahmad, Major Abdul Razzaq and Assistant Director Wajid Yousuf were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, both side exchanged views regarding difficulties facing exporters in provincial metropolis Peshawar at dry port, airport and local Karachi/Sindh-bonded cargoes. SCCI, chief said contrabands are a scourge and addicts are a curse in the society and assured that the chamber would play its role in ridding the society of this menace by extending full co-operation to narcotics officials in this regard.
The chamber vice president, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, while speaking on the occasion, said exporters were not against the checking and scrutiny of commercial cargo. He stressed the need for proper mechanism to simplify and easy process for commercial goods. Brigadier Ameer proposed installing of tracking devices on containers and cargo carriers to curb narco-smuggling. The chamber chief endorsed the Brigadier Ameer's views on tracking devices.
However, he suggested the ANF should get a law passed to install tracking devices on containers. He said cargo carriers with tracking devices to check contraband were not in existence across the country. Brigadier Ameer briefed the chamber delegation on checking and scrutiny of export goods at Peshawar dry port and airport and assured that all problems would be solved with proper co-ordination with SCCI.
