Former President FPCCI and Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce Pakistan Chapter Iftikhar Ali Malik has said that uninterrupted supply of power is a pre-requisite for the economic growth and development of the country.
He rebuked the government for mishandling the energy sector, stating that serious decisions that have implications for the economy must be taken after consulting the business community.
Speaking at a meeting held at FPCCI regional office regarding Capital office building construction issues, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that the business community of Pakistan was functioning under tremendous pressure from the global recession, the reluctance of foreign buyers to visit Pakistan and political instability. In the presence of these hurdles, he added, burden of the power crisis was an intolerable factor that must be addressed at the earliest.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said that survival of the all countries always rely on sound economy, hence it was in the greater national interest that government should reshape its load management policy and exempt the industrial sector from power and gas load shedding.-PR
