Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar on Wednesday said the government is not facing any threat from any institution. Talking to a private news channel, the minister said, it is ultimate duty of every institution to protect the democratic and constitutional system. He clarified that statement of the Prime Minister had been taken out of context and all institutions of the country are working under the constitution.
To a question, Naveed Qamar said: "the system will not face any threat. We should defend the system and will not allow anyone to take it for granted." "It is not right to say that the government adopted the resolution in a bid to hide its performance. PPP has been struggling for democracy since its inception and the government will get through the current circumstances with the mutual understanding," he maintained.
He said party discipline shows the collective wisdom of the party. Prime Minister Gilani just followed the party lines by saying that he was ready to render sacrifice but would not allow anyone to trial the grave of the Mohtarma 'Benazir Bhutto.' To a question, Naveed Qamar said "the Prime Minister will follow the lines given by his lawyer without violating the party position in contempt notice." To another question, he said Mola Bakhsh Chandio is still the Law Minister. It is not decided yet to appoint Babar Awan as new Law Minister. He said that the memogate and other crises are just actually deviatory matters and the government is trying to bring the nation on the same page to confront internal and external crises.
