Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Lahore Mahmood-ur-Rasheed has said that the party wants fresh elections under a caretaker set-up because it believes that under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari free and fair elections are impossible.
Talking to party workers on Tuesday, he further said that the president also held the party's office, therefore, fresh elections in a transparent manner were impossible. He observed that a caretaker government and fresh elections would not derail the system rather it would strengthen it. "The rulers' ill-planned policies, corruption and plunder have become the biggest threat to the people and democracy. The only way to save the country is by removing the corrupt rulers from power," he added.
