Khosa rules out possibility of seeking fresh vote of confidence by Prime Minister

Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has ruled out the possibility of seeking fresh vote of confidence by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. "Neither the prime minister is taking fresh vote of confidence nor any such proposal is under consideration," he said, adding, "There is no threat to democracy and confrontation among state institutions."
He was talking to media after the 9th Convocation of Lahore School of Economics (LSE) here on Saturday. The governor said that all the coalition partners including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would support the resolution tabled by Awami National Party (ANP) to express resolve for strengthening of democracy and democratic culture in the country. He said democracy was facing threat from a few opposition politicians. However, he expressed the hope that the Opposition will support the resolution.
Answering a question regarding writing a letter to Swiss authorities, he said: "President enjoys immunity as per constitutional provisions and the people of Pakistan will decide as to whether they want to see their elected president before the court of a magistrate." About Chief Minister Punjab statement that the US should support democracy in Pakistan instead of "dacoits", the governor said that we should abstain from getting involve foreign countries in our internal matters.
