PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan said on Saturday that he has "no formula to take the government out of crisis". Talking to media here, he also dispelled the impression of playing any role of" bridge" between the judiciary and the government. He said he was in Lahore and there was no truth in rumours like this.
According to him, his stance on letter to Swiss authorities to reopen cases against President Zardari was different from the party. On the issue of removal of the President from office, he said the Constitution has given the procedure of impeachment, which would "strengthen" democracy.
"Only an undemocratic procedure would weaken democracy further," he added. Regarding immunity to Zardari, he said his stance was very clear, and he did not agree with "the legal experts" asking for permission to seek immunity by the President. Aitzaz said he has applied for election to Senate. However, he was not a candidate for Senate Chairman or prime minister. On the NRO verdict, he said the Supreme Court's options are for the larger bench, "and not for the government".
