The Saudi government had extended $1.5 million health assistance for provision of instruments and equipments at basic health facilities in the Khyber Paktunkhaw province. In this connection, a ceremony was held here at Directorate of Health on Thursday, in which Khyber Pakhtunkhaw Minister for Health, Syed Zahir Ali Shah was chief guest.
During the ceremony, the representative of World Health Organisation (WHO) handed over the health equipments worth of $1.5 million, which will be provided to district headquarter hospitals in the province. The equipments were included Ultrasound machines, water testing and filtration machines, X-rays, and other health related instruments. The representatives of Saudi Embassy, WHO, Khyber Pakhtunkhaw, Secretary Health, Director General Health Services, and other official of the department were present.
Khyber Pakhtunkhaw, Minister for Health, Syed Zahir Ali Shah while addressing at the ceremony, extended a special gratitude to Saudi government for health assistance. He said the brother Islamic country Saudi Arabia had always extended support in time testing situation of the Pakistan, especially assistance to people of Khyber Pakhtunkhaw.
He expressed the hope that Saudi government would continue its assistance to people of Khyber Pakhtunkhaw in future. He said that the equipments would helpful to improve health delivery system in the province.
The provincial Minister said the Saudi government was not only extended its assistance for health, but also provided financial support for other causes in difficult situation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhaw. He also extended thanks to WHO for co-operation and support in improvement of basic health system.
During the ceremony, the health officials informed that Saudi government had already provided $3 million health assistance for provision of instrument and equipments at different health facilities in the province, in which 26 Ambulances were also included. The health assistance process will be carried in different phases to the Khyber Pakhtunkhaw. The representatives of WHO and Saudi Embassy also spoke on the occasion.
