A delegation comprising of Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Arbab Dost Mohammad Khan, Arbab Khalid and Safdar Khan Baghi succeeded in bringing an end to three years enmity amongst three sub-tribes of Khalil tribe. The jirga held in the residence of Arbab Khalid on main Jamrud Road was attended by hundreds of the people of the area and rival families.
The rivals took oath on the Holy Qura'an for ending the enmity and living peaceful life in future. The enmity between the three sub-tribes Badezai, Palosai and Regi was a threat to the peace of the area and has claimed the lives of two persons. The rival families were of Jamshid, Ashraf, Arshad, Shah Faisal and Riaz.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour congratulated the rival families for accepting the decision of the jirga, saying after taking oath on the Holy Qura'an now they have religious obligation and will not violate the decisions of the jirga.
Senator Bilour, who is an ANP Senator, said that the people of the area are the true followers of the non-violent philosophy of Bacha Khan, but the military regime of General Zia-ul-Haq in the name of Jihad in Afghanistan sown the seeds of violence and promoted Kalashnikov culture in them.
Safdar Khan Baghi, a former nazim said that the tradition of jirga system is five thousand years old and today the whole world is following it. He said that today the world community is seeking solution to international disputes through it. He said Bonn Conference is also a form of jirga making efforts for establishment of peace in Afghanistan. He congratulated the rival tribes for ending enmity in light of the decision of the jirga and said that violation will be considered contempt of the Pakhtun traditions and the violators have to pay a fine of Rs two million.
