The spiritual leader of Hurs, Pir Pagara, was laid to rest on Thursday at Dhani Shah shrine in Pir Jo Goth amid tears and sobs, as thousands of his devotees grieved his death. Shah Mardan Shah, popularly known as Pir Pagara, was the seventh leader of Hur Jamaat, who died in London on Tuesday night. The body Pir Pagar was brought back to Karachi on Thursday morning from London, which was taken to Sukkur in a special C130 plane.
From Sukkur it was flown to his native village, Pir Jo Goth, in a helicopter. Hazrat Siraj Uddin Gilani led his funeral prayer, which was among others attended by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan, Vice Chairman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Vice Chief Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh, Mumtaz Hussain Sehto, former prime minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, MQM's Dr Sagheer Ahmad, PML-N's Syed Ghoas Ali Shah and his sons besides thousands of his followers and different political leaders. Pir Pagara was born in November 1928 in Pir Jo Goth, district Khairpur and was made Hur Jamaat's spiritual leader in 1952.
