Resignation of President, Prime Minister Fauzia rules out possibility

A central leader of PPP Fauzia Wahab has ruled out the possibility of stepping down of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani as they are still enjoying the support of majority of elected parliament. Talking newsmen here on Wednesday, she said that they had come into power through democratic way with the support of the masses and added that Senate election would be held before March and Saraiki province would be declared before general elections.
She said that the PPP would decide its future course of action after reviewing the judgement of Supreme Court in NRO case. She alleged that the PPP activists were being victimised by Punjab authorities as the PML-N government was not ready to divide the province.
She said that her party respected the demands of people of South Punjab and all out efforts would be made to end their sense of deprivation. Ms Wahab, who is former central Information Secretary of the PPP, said that the demand for Seraiki province was the voice of the people of the area. She added that the PPP understood the concerns of the people of South Punjab and respected their desires and demands.
She said that the PPP's manifesto committee was working on the issue to make it a part of the party's election manifesto for the next general election. To a question, she added that there was no need that the people should come on roads as the PPP was already working on the matter. Fauzia said that if the people gave the mandate to the PPP in next general election, it would move ahead with the proposal for creation of Seraiki province.
She criticised PML-N president Mian Nawaz Sharif for his undue criticising the federal government and said that he had chosen to go abroad while leaving his workers in the country. She said that the two leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should tell the people about the source of assets they had acquired after becoming prime minister or chief minister. She said that the Punjab government was neglecting the development needs of South Punjab and resources of this area were being utilised for the uplift of upper Punjab.
