Members of Fata Grand Alliance (FGA) have supported the proposal for making Federally Administrative Tribal Areas as "Qabailistan" and urged the political parties to support resolution moved by it through a Fata elected representative in the parliament for the purpose to continue reforms process in the tribal region.
Speaking at a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC), the FGA chief, Malik Khan Marjan Wazir, said that there was a need to accept Fata as separate entity to streamline the tribal society. Accompanied by tribal elders, he stressed that tribal people should take on board in consultative process for formulating any policy and constitutional reforms regarding Fata. Under the constitutional reforms, he said the Fata legislative assembly should make legislation to change destine of the tribal people.
"We will not accept division of tribal society and foil any such attempt", he warned and added that political parties were using various tactics to create rift among tribal people. He informed that the FGA had moved a resolution by a Fata elected representative, Hameedullah Jan Afridi for making tribal areas as separate province, and urged that all political parties to support the resolution moved in the parliament. He supported the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) resolution regarding Qaibilistan and extended gratitude on behalf of tribal people.
Marjan Wazir said that FGA had provided a platform to incumbent government to bring reforms in the Fata, saying that the extension of Political Parties Act and amendments in Frontier Crime Regulations (FCR) law was made possible due to efforts of the alliance.
However, he alleged that the present political coalition partners wanted to ruin their efforts by merging Fata into settled areas. He warned that the tribal people are not ready to be part of settled areas, because the situation of Malakand division was glare example for the tribal people. He said the FGA demand to government to avoid from creating rift among tribal people and play role for development and reforms in the Fata instead of mere relying on claims.-PR
