The Karachi Port handled 244,030 tonnes of cargo comprising 162,226 tonnes of import cargo and 81,804 tonnes of export cargo including 5,021 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 162,226 tonnes comprised of 89,394 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22 tonne of general cargo; 45,859 tonnes of coal and 26,951 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 81,804 tonnes comprised of 66,305 tonnes of containerised cargo; 272 tonnes of general cargo; 2,827 tonnes of bulk cargo: 396 tonnes of rice; 2,431 tonnes of cement and 12,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Twelve ships namely APL Sydney, OOCL Dalian, Athena, Al-Ihsaa, YM Fuzhou, Kota Azam, Uru Bhum, MT Karachi, Berthea, ID Tide, Safina-2 and Master with seven container ships, two oil tankers, one coal carrier, one rice carrier and one bunker ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Nine vessels viz Kota Azam, Athena, Uru Bhum, APL Topaz, MOL Wind, Berthea, Cape Endurance, Yvonne and Tan Binh-22 with five container ships, two oil tankers, one coal carrier and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Two ships namely MOL Wind and Bunga Melati-5 with one container ship and one palm oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Cape Endurance one oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday.
Two vessels viz Hanjin Monaco and Sai Sunrise carrying one container ship and one sulphur carrier respectively due to arrive on Monday, while eight vessels viz APL Agate, Bravo, Al-Mirqab, APL Brisbane, Greenwich Bridge, Purwati, Alliance Norfolk and Fade-1 carrying five container ships, one chemicals carrier, one vehicles carrier and one wheat carrier respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo includes 19,722 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two container ships namely CV Maersk Wyoming and CV ACX Rafflesis sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MT Senna-4 and MT Al-Soor-II are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels CV Maersk Wyoming, CV ACX Rafflesis, MV Hiba Al-Noor-B, MT Senna-4 and MT Al-Soor-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, LPG and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely MSC Anafi, Akaki, Fair Spirit and Ad fines Sky with one container ship, two furnace oil tankers and one palm oil tanker are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of three vessels viz CV MSC Anafi, MT Fair Spirit and MT Ad fines Sky carrying containers, furnace oil and palm oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. Two container ships namely CV Asir and CV CMA CGM Mozart are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday.
