The Punjab Government is spending Rs 4 billion on the provision of various missing facilities in public sector schools in the province so that students studying in these low-fee schools could get quality education and their mental ken also be improved through provision of conducive learning atmosphere.
This amount is used to provide essential facilities like classroom furniture, electricity, potable water, construction of boundary walls, provision of clean toilet facility and other essential necessities. This was stated by Raja Anwar, Chairman of Punjab Education Foundation at his residence on Sunday in a meeting with a 15-member delegation of school headmasters and teachers belonging to various districts.
Anwar said that Rs 14.5 billion is being spent on execution of various developmental projects of school sector in the current annual development program. Keeping in view the importance of school tier in the overall education sector, special attention is being paid to improve the standard of education in the school side, he said. He hoped that government's efforts would help to improve the educational standard of the public sector schools and students would compete with elite institutions of private sector in results. He said that Punjab government has also launched technical education program at secondary level in 1080 selected schools in various districts with a sum of Rs 315 million. "Our Daanish Schooling project is unique in the sense that it's wholly benefiting the poorest of the poor in remote hinterlands," he added.
