Portraying the historical significance and conveying a peaceful message of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the selective art work of Jimmy Engineer, a renowned artist and social welfare, will be put on display during the three-day painting exhibition at Nishtar Hall Peshawar on Monday (today).
Briefing reporters about the event here on Sunday, Vice Chancellor of University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani said that the varsity in collaboration with Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), Higher Education Commission (HEC) and provincial Directorate of Culture was holding three-day painting exhibition from 9th to 11th January.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Huassain, Secretary Culture, Azmat Hanif Orkzai, Farah from Higher Education Commission, were also present on the occasion.
Jimmy Engineer, who was also present in the press briefing, said that he had travelled different countries to develop soft image of the country through his paintings and artworks.
He said that his collection of 80 pictures would be donated to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that he was really impressed from the sacrifices rendered by the people of the region in establishment of peace. Jimmy said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rich historical importance and known for its beauty and hospitality. He said the objective of the exhibition was to pay tribute to brave people of the Khyber Pakhtunkwa and their matchless sacrifices.
KP Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that the region had paid huge price for restoration of peace and added the government had become successful to restore peace and stability in the most part of the province.
He said the cultural activities, which were adversely affected due to terrorism, had been in full swing in the province. He said the government would support art exhibition and promotion of cultural events. Iftikhar reiterated that the government was ready to hold talk with those who respected constitution and surrendered arms.
