Sindh government has decided in principle to re-open the open prison of Badin, superintendent has been posted, Business Recorder learnt on Friday. This decision has been taken in a meeting held with the Minister for Prisons and Law Ayaz Soomro here at his office situated in Sindh Assembly's building a few days back, sources said.
The open jail of Badin, the home district of former Sindh home minister Dr Zulifqar Ali Mirza, remain closed for the last many years. Sources in Prison department told that this open prison was the source of physical and mental trainings for the prisoners where from Sindh government was also getting revenue sources through cultivation of various crops and hand-loom industries. The Sindh government posted Mohammad Aslam as the Superintendent of Open Jail of Badin, sources said. The Minister for prisons Soomro expressed desire to visit the open jail and, maybe, he will visit within next some days, sources said.
