Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Zakia Shahnwaz said on Monday that Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Lahore General Hospital (LGH) enjoy international reputation in the areas of neuro treatment and promotion of medical education. Those students who got admission to medical college affiliated with LGH would have very bright future because they were taught by experienced faculty, she added.
She expressed these views while addressing the doctors under training for endoscope at Medical Unit one at LHG. Principal PGMI and LGH Professor Dr Tariq Salah-ud-Din, Professor Ghayas-un-Nabi Tayyab and a number of doctors were present. Shahnawaz said that doctors from PGMI were rendering services both at national and international organisations as specialists and teachers. Principal PGMI and LGH Dr Tariq Salah-ud-Din has taken revolutionary steps to upgrade both organisations and raise standard of services. These organisations have been set as role models by the other medical organisations of the country, she said.
Dr Salah-ud-Din while speaking on the occasion said that expertise in usage of modern medical equipment and research have become need of the hour for the doctors and they were much focused to provide all possible facilities in these areas. He further said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was committed to convert this hospital into a state-of-the-art institution. He said that development work at LGH was underway and its Phase-III consist of operation theater and private rooms was being constructed.
