Punjab Agriculture and Livestock Minister Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh said here on Monday that Pakistan was facing tremendous challenges and economically lagging behind its neighbouring countries but could become a prosperous nation if it develops livestock and agriculture sector on modern lines.
He was addressing at inaugural ceremony of one month long workshop on "Capacity building of Livestock & Dairy Development Department officers for the establishment of advisory services" at conference hall of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS). The workshop was organised by UVAS in collaboration with the Punjab Livestock & Dairy Development Department (L&DDD).
Ahmad Ali Aulakh said that the workshop would be valuable for the livestock department officers. He said that development of human resource of Livestock & Dairy Development Department would lead to the promotion of livestock sector. UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that university was focusing on livestock industries and farmers' problems adding that only poultry industry had immense potential after textile sector. It is need of the hour to develop such sector by applying latest research and methodology.
Dilating on the capacity building training he said sharing of experience and exchange of knowledge is a process of learning. He further said that training would be fruitful to enhance the human resource capacity-building.
Professor Dr Pasha assured university would provide all out technical support and training to uplift the livestock sector. Punjab L&DDD Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh explained that the livestock department would provide a unique opportunity for the officers to uplift their administrative, financial, project management and communication skills in a befitting manner. He said that 600 officers would be trained to attain departmental up-gradation in this regard.
