The Lahore High Court on Monday summoned Assistant Commissioner Model Town and Secretary Market Committee to appear before the court on Tuesday (today) in a contempt petition against not opening exit and entry points of Kot Lakhpat Fruit and Vegetable Market despite court orders. The court also appointed a local commission and sought a report Tuesday (today) whether walls blocking entry and exit of said Market were removed or not.
The petitioner shopkeepers Chaudhary Yaseen and others contended that government officials were not following the court orders issued on December 27, 2011. The court had directed the AC Irfan Memon and Secretary Market Committee Abdul Waheed to demolish the walls and reopen the all entry and exit points of the Kot Lakhpat Market. The petitioners pleaded the government did not open all the ways of the market despite the court orders.
