The 10-day Waseela-e-Haq training workshop under the aegis of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), which was attended by as many as 24 selected through balloting under BISP Waseela-e-Haq programme, successfully concluded in Karachi, says a press release issued, here on Wednesday.
Director Karachi Pervaiz Iqbal and Director Lyari Ghulam Nabi Babar said the trained families would be provided with Rs 300,000 interest free loan to start their own business. Iqbal said that the BISP Waseela-e-Haq scheme was formulated with the mission of "Breaking the vicious cycle of poverty through micro loans".
Through the female beneficiaries from the most marginalized segment of society are selected through a computerised prize-draw, to receive a loan of up to Rs 300,000 for setting up an enterprise, he added. Ghulam Nabi Babar said that Waseela-e-Haq scheme will help thousands of poor families graduate out of the monthly subsistence and set up their own small businesses and live a life of dignity and self respect.-PR
