IN SHORT: Indonesia considers more rice imports

Indonesia may issue additional rice import permits for November until the end of February 2012, a trade ministry official said on Friday, a week after state procurement agency Bulog said it had finished buying the staple grain for the year. Indonesian government departments are currently discussing the possibility of an additional rice import permit, said Deddy Saleh, director general of foreign trade at the Indonesian trade ministry on Friday.
Last week, Bulog said Southeast Asia's largest economy had suspended all rice imports for the year after filling its 1.6 million-tonne quota for 2011.
