At least two persons including an aged man were fallen prey to targeted killing spree in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis here on Friday. According to police, an elder man was shot dead at his shop in the limits of North Nazimabad police station.
The incident took place at North Nazimabad near Ziauddin Hospital where unidentified armed riders reached at Sajadia Furniture Shop and opened indiscriminate firing. Resultantly a 70-year-old Ghulam Hussain received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. SHO Malik Ayub said the victim, who was the resident of same area where incident took place, belonged to Shia sect.
Police suspected that the victim might have been murdered over sectarian ground and added that the victim was the father of two. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities and later handed over to his family. No case was registered till filling of this report.
In another incident, a man was stabbed to death at Shahanshah Chowk Bin Qasim in the limits of Ibrahim Hyderi police station. The incident took place at Shahanshah Chowk Bin Qasim where 26-year-old Mukhtiar son of Salimullah was targeted when he was sitting with his friend Yousuf. Police said that both friends started fighting over some issue and later Yousuf attacked on Mukhtiar with dagger. Resultantly he received serious injuries and succumbed to his injures during treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
SHO Naik Mohammad Jakhrani said the victim, who used to live alone, was fisherman and added that they scuffled with each other over money dispute, which claimed the life of Mukhtiar. They said the victim hailed from Bangladesh and was unmarried. A case was registered against Yousuf on the complaint of victim's friend namely Jalal. Further investigation is underway.
