The Parliamentary Committee on National Security has been summoned on Friday to discuss the controversial 'memogate.' To be headed by its chairman Senator Raza Rabbani, the committee will take up the issue in toto.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator and member of the parliamentary panel Ishaq Dar sent a letter to the chairman of the panel urging him to immediately convene a meeting of the committee to discuss the 'memo' and take an appropriate decision as to the future course of action on the matter. Dar also demanded that Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General Shuja Pasha should be summoned to present facts and developments made on the issue.
"An article of Mansoor Ijaz published in the Financial Times on October 10, 2011 and subsequent developments thereafter in this regard are indeed a matter of grave concern for all Pakistanis as the contents of the said article clearly tantamount to an apparent attempt to attack on sovereignty and independence of Pakistan," Dar wrote in his letter.
