Scores of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) from Bara, Khyber Agency on Monday set up a protest camp alongside Sher Shah Suri road near Peshawar Press Club against the ongoing operation by the security forces and unavailability of basic facilities at the relief camps in Jalozai, Nowshera.
Chairman IDPs Tehreek, Shah Faisal, headed the protest camp. A large number of displaced people, including children, elderly and women were present. The protesters were holding placards and banners, demanding for stoppage of ongoing military operation and provision of basic facilities at their makeshift camp.
Talking to the reporters, Faisal said that the IDPs from Bara Khyber Agency were facing enormous difficulties after huge influx from their hometown in wake of military operation. He said that the IDPs camps were lacking all basic facilities, whereas the process of registration had come to a halt, as steps were not taken to provide food to the IDPs, he said.
Following the growing problems being faced by the by IDPs, he said that they had launched a specific movement to pressurize the government for amicable redressal of their problems. He warned that if in case the government failed to accept their demand, they would stage a protest camp in front of Political Agent office, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor House and eventually outside the Parliament House.
