Anti Gilani, Haqqani rally organised

Published Updated

Activists of Civil Society, Muslim Students Federation (MSF) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday organised a rally from Chungi No 9 and concluded at Chowk Kutchehry where they burnt the effigies of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, and Pakistan Ambassador in US Hussain Haqqani and national flag of United States in the wake of the 'Memogate' that has shaken the country.
They said that they have to resign accepting their responsibility. Participants were shouting slogans against the rulers calling them conspirators. "The Speaker Habib-ur-rehman Sanghera leader of the MSF asked is it patriotism to seek foreign powers' help to bring Pakistan's armed forces under pressure," while referring to the letter allegedly written by President Asif Zardari to Mike Mullen. He alleged that the president was selling the country's sovereignty and integrity.
Tariq Naeem-ullah Khan, President of United Citizens Front, claimed last month that the secret memo delivered to then US military chief Admiral Mullen in May had sought American assistance to prevent a possible military take-over in Pakistan in the wake of the killing of Osama bin Laden. Ijaz has claimed that he drafted the memo on the instructions of Haqqani. The rally was also joined by Haq Nawaz, Muhammad Iqbal Khokhar, Zeeshan Malik, Ijaz Kalro, Mian Tariq Arain, Naveed-ur-Rehman Baloch, Azhar Qureshi, Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed, Wajid Ansari, Naseem Abbas, Qadeer Bhatti, Khurshid Khawar etc.
