Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University is going to organise a three-day international conference on "Dairy Sciences" in collaboration with Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), Small & Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda), Provincial Livestock and Dairy Department from November 21st to 23rd here at the university.
The conference's basic aim is to boost up export of dairy and livestock products, especially get proper share in International Halal Market, said Dr M Subhan Qureshi, organiser and dean faculty of animal husbandry & veterinary science, Agricultural University, Peshawar.
He expressed hope that the conference will be helpful to bring commercialisation and promote export oriented provincial livestock resources. He said the concrete and tangible recommendations would be outlined to form a viable indigenous policy for dairy, livestock and poultry development in the province.
Dr Subhan said that the business and sciences stakeholders are also being taken on-board for purpose, including SCCI and Smeda. Similarly, he said public-sector agriculture, and livestock and dairy research institutes are also co-operating to make the international conference a success.
He informed that more than 400 local and international delegates, particularly from the neighbouring India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan would be participating in the international moot. Furthermore, scientific researchers of different dairy farms, universities and research institutes scholars, and dairy and livestock development department officials would attend the conference.
Dr Subhan furthered that a three-day science exhibition would also be held on the occasion, where all dairy and livestock products, including medicines, hormones, and equipment were put on displayed in more than 10 stalls, he informed. He added that around 100 local and internationally reputed research papers on Livestock and Business out of which 35 oral while rest of book form would be presented.
He added that the exhibition is sponsored by Inter Co-operation, a NGO, All Tech Pakistan, and Ghani Brothers. He informed that the conference will formally open by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Agriculture, Arbab Ayub Jan, while in the concluding session, provincial minister for livestock and dairy development will be the chief guest.
