Modest business was seen on the wholesale grain market on Thursday as most of the buyers preferred to be on sidelines mainly because of higher trend in the prices, dealers said. On the cereal side makai low type lost Rs 125 to Rs 2250 and the best type also shed Rs 63 to Rs 2250, juwar, however, gained Rs 50 to Rs 2200-2300, wheat old and new types Bardan, lost Rs 20 to Rs 2680-2695, other items maintained overnight levels, they said.
On the gram sector guwar Sindh and Mardan rose by Rs 100 to Rs 6500-6600 due to tight supply position, they said. On the rice sector Irri-6 Sindh posted fresh gain of Rs 75 to Rs 3125-3200 on increased consumers' buying during the peak season of marriage and functions, Irri-white (broken) low type followed same pattern, gaining Rs 50 to Rs 2450 while the best type did not move any side in process of trading, they said. Prices on the seed side did not move any sides due to balanced demand and supply, they said.
