The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Tuesday restrained DSP city circle Okara and a SHO in courtroom for few hours who failed to recover the girl who contracted love marriage. The court while summoning DPO Okara observed a private TV channel had aired girl's telephonic interview, while police is making lame excuses and rose till the arrival of DPO.
After few hours DPO reached the court and sought few days time to present girl Maryam. He undertook that he would produce the girl on Friday. On it, the court adjourned the hearing till November 18 and allowed police officers to go with DPO.
A traffic warden Humayon Shahzad filed a habeas cuprous petition for recovery of Maryam Lashari. Petitioner through his counsel Asghar Ali Gill pleaded that he and Maryam got married against the will of her family three years ago. Later elders of her family agreed to send her with petitioner after few days. But they backed out of their promises and detained her.
He said girl's brother Dr Usman Lashari, sister Dr Amina Lashari and his brother-in-law, Hassan Farooq Watto tortured and forced her to got divorce from her husband. He pointed out that life of Marryam was in danger, as he had no contact with her for five days. He was also receiving life threats from girl's family.
