Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) announced on Friday schedule of protest demonstrations across the province against shortage of fertiliser, black marketing and for not printing prices on fertilizer bags. KBP will stage a protest demonstration at Rajanpur on Sunday (tomorrow), Kashmore (Sindh) on November 14, Taunsa (Dera Ghazi Khan) November 15, Layyah November 16 and Jhang November 17, 2011.
KBP Central Secretary Information Haji Muhammad Ramzan while releasing the schedule of protest rallies further said that these rallies would be addressed by the local and central leadership of the board including its Central President Sardar Zafar Hussein and General Secretary Malik Muhammad Ramzan Rohari.
Haji Ramzan will lead a big rally of growers in Pattoki (District Kasur) on November 14. Members of the board will also take out rallies in other several districts. KBP leader claimed that the federal government had proved its ineptness by not importing fertiliser in time for the current sowing season. He alleged that certain elements in the government were looting the farmers with both hands by creating an artificial shortage and increasing the prices of fertiliser unjustifiably. He also accused both the federal and provincial governments of trying to get political mileage on the issue of fertiliser. He said that the growers had no option but to protest to press the government for acceptance of their demands.
