Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting which reviewed progress on the project of Land Record Management and Information System, here Sunday. Addressing the meeting, the CM said that the project of computerisation of land record is of great importance and after its completion, not only people will be facilitated in getting revenue record but will also get rid of 'patwari' culture and corruption.
He said that the fraud and forgery with regard to registration of properties will be eliminated with the help of the process and thus, people will be facilitated. Expressing his satisfaction over the progress of the last three months, the CM appreciated the efforts of steering committee in this regard. He said that five service centres will start functioning in various districts including Lahore next month which is a welcoming step. He said that due to the efforts of steering committee, more than Rs 1.5 billion has also been saved in the operational expenses of this project. He said that the scope of the project will be extended in all districts of the province under a phased programme.
Earlier, Project Director, Irfan Elahi informed about the pace of progress of the project. He told that hardware of four service centres has been arranged and the process of human resource for these centres has been completed whereas recruitment of staff for 11 more centres is continuing.
The meeting was told that the web-site of Land Record Management and Information System has been launched through which citizens can get information about the ownership of their properties.
Members Provincial Assembly, Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Rao Kashif Rahim Khan, chief secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, senior member Board of Revenue, home secretary, secretary law and other officers concerned attended the meeting.
