Speakers at a seminar have stressed the need for forging unity and promotion of interfaith harmony between all religions and sects for maintenance of everlasting peace in the region and called upon the media to play due role for creation in this regard.
The seminar tilted 'Media role in establishment of Peace' held under auspices of Pakistan Council of World Religions (PCWR) here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC). Notable speakers belonging to different religions included Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor, Allama Fakhar Kararvi, Sardar Charan Singh Sahgar, Haroon Sayab Deyal, Arshad Aziz Malik along with journalists, social and political activists.
Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor, an educationist and religious scholar on the occasion delivered a speech in Islamic perceptive and said that Islam is a peaceful religion, saying that all religions preach us message of peace, love, affection, tolerance and harmony. He further said that the Islam isn't the forceful religion. He observed that the religious minorities have fully independent to fulfil their religious obligations in the country.
He said that Islam is being defaming on name of religious conflict and sects basis. He added the Pakistan Council of World Religion (PCWR) proved that the unity is prevailed among all religions in the country and removed all misperceptions regarding them.Shahab Khattak, a political activist, said that it was very easy to provoke anyone for violence, but it could be much difficult to bring peace and stability. He stressed the need of promotion of tolerance, harmony, non-violence, and respect the feeling any religions in prevailing situation. He said that the Islam is peaceful religion, but it was portraying negative picture in the world.
