Date for IT returns extended

Published Updated

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended date for filing of income tax returns by salaried persons, and taxpayers operating under the Presumptive Tax Regime (PTR), from October 25 to October 31, 2011. It is learnt that the FBR will issue the necessary notification on Tuesday, October 25. This facilitative measure has been taken to ensure filing of returns by individual taxpayers (businessmen/salaried persons and taxpayers operating under the PTR).
The last date for filing of returns for the salaried persons and the PTR was September 30. The date was extended to October 25, which has now been further extended to October 31 to facilitate the taxpayers, particularly salaried class and PTR persons. All salaried persons drawing gross salary of Rs 500,000 and above are required to file the return electronically. All those persons who want to claim refunds in their returns and those who are registered for sales tax are also required to file their income tax returns electronically.
In addition to the above individuals, all companies and Associations of Persons (AOPs) are required to file the return electronically. Since electronic filing of returns is an annual event, those employees who forget their passwords and PIN Codes can call at E-FBR Contact Centers at 051-111772772 and request for resending the passwords and PIN Codes which is required for filing of returns.
