The Department of Statistics, University of Sindh celebrated the World Statistics Day on Thursday. World Statistics Day is celebrated on 20 October world-wide including Pakistan to strengthen public awareness of the important work that statisticians carry out each day.
On World Statistics Day, different countries carry out activities and events that highlight the role of official statistics and many achievements of their national statistical systems. The Department of Statistics, University of Sindh organised a seminar which was attended by teachers and a large number of students.
Chairperson of the department Dr Raja Muhammad Ilyas who presided over the seminar said that statistics is field of study. It is a group of numbers that summarises the state of our national economy, business, population and other information, he added.
