The lawmakers in the session of the Balochistan Assembly, held on Thursday, passed a resolution unanimously seeking bringing perpetrators of killing of pilgrims in Mastung to justice. Deputy Speaker, Matiullah Agha presided over the assembly session which started half an hour late of its schedule.
Minister for Quality Education and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Jan Ali Changezi moved the resolution which read that armed men offloaded pilgrims from Iran bound bus in Mastung area on 20th September 2011 and shot them dead. The resolution demanded arrest of suspects of Mastung tragedy besides bringing them to justice.
The mover, while delivering his speech, said that earlier, selected persons were killed and now common and innocent citizens are being murdered. He said that relevant departments have failed in providing security and protection to people. Minister for Works and Communication and PPP leader, Ali Madad Jatak said that people from both the religious communities are being killed due to religious prejudice and hatred.
He demanded collective measures to secure peace in the region. MPA Tariq Masori Bugti viewed that sense of insecurity has been rising in the province due to the deteriorating law and order situation. He demanded effective steps to put a halt to violence. The chair put the resolution to the house, which adopted it unanimously. The chair adjourned the house till Saturday, October 22.
