As per the decision of the Federal Government that five days working week will be observed by the banks (Saturday and Sunday will be observed as closed days), the National Bank of Pakistan has announced the office timings.
The following office timings will be observed with immediate effect till further orders: Monday to Thursday: 9:00 am to 5.30 pm (with lunch/prayer break from 1.30 pm to 2.15 pm) Friday: 9.00 am to 6.00 pm (with lunch/prayer break from 1.00 pm to 2.30 pm).
In order to ensure availability of basic banking facilities to business community, it has been decided that selected NBP branches will remain open, while the Head Office and Regional Offices will remain closed on Saturdays. The designated branches located at Custom Houses / Ports, Airports shall remain open 24/7 as per existing practice. The list of activities to be carried out on Saturday is as under: Cash receipts and payments; collection of government revenues (Taxes, Custom Duties etc.), government payments (Pensions, Salaries etc.), online transactions/fund transfer (wherever possible), collection of utility bills, issuance of demand drafts, pay orders, traveller cheques etc , collection of cheques and other related instruments (the instruments received for clearing will be processed on next working day), acceptance of documents/opening of inland & foreign Letter of Credit (not forward cover). The timing for branches for Saturday will be observed as follow: Saturday: Business Timings 9:00 am to 12:30m; Office Timings: 9:00am to 01:30pm.
