Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that a committee has been set up for providing financial assistance to the heirs of those who died due to dengue virus, which will collect the data of the deceased within 72 hours and in the light of particulars, the distribution of financial assistance of Rs. 0.5 million to the heirs of each deceased will be started.
He said this while presiding over a meeting of special committee set up for eradication of dengue virus, here on Sunday. Members National and Provincial Assembly, Chief Secretary, secretaries of various departments and experts attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that all out resources are being utilised for curbing dengue virus and a campaign against dengue is being run as a movement in which a vigorous awareness campaign is also continuing for including all segments of the society. He said that besides creating awareness regarding eradication of dengue virus among the masses, special steps are also being taken for providing training to the persons associated with medical field for treatment of this disease. He said that the process of training of doctors and nurses has been started in various hospitals by evolving a comprehensive system of training in this regard. He said that training of doctors and nurses is of great importance, therefore, maximum participation of doctors and nurses should be ensured in training programmes and these programmes should also be monitored.
