The Karachi Port handled 128,733 tonnes of cargo comprising 101,207 tonnes of import cargo and 27,526 tonnes of export cargo including 5,795 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 101,207 tonnes comprised of 43,654 tonnes of containerised cargo; 610 tonne of general cargo; 23,586 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,078 tonnes of DAP; 651 tonnes of wheat; 14,671 tonnes of coal; 2,186 tonnes of chickpeas and 33,357 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 27,526 tonnes comprised of 25,127 tonnes of containerised cargo; 105 tonnes of general cargo and 2,294 tonnes of cement.
Four ships namely Cape Maas, Conti Brisbane, Resolve and Pu Yang Hu carrying two container ships, one vehicles carrier and one naphtha carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Seven vessels viz YM Fuzhou, Emirates Yangzte, Kota Azam, OOCL Charleston, APL Sokhna, Stolt Greenland and Resolve carrying five container ships, one oil tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Five ships namely Kota Azam, YM Fuzhou, APL Sokhna, JK Monowara, Umm Ad Dalkh and Nadeem carrying two container ships, one coal carrier, one seeds ship and one cement carrier respectively expected to sail on Saturday, while two ships namely Emirates Yangzte and OOCL Charleston carrying two container ships respectively are expected to sail on Sunday.
A cement carrier viz Myra due to arrive on Saturday, while five vessels viz Manuela, Pardis, APL Zircon, Cher and BSLE Pacific carrying three container ships, one sulphur carrier and one talcum powder carrier respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
Seven ships namely Viona, Al-Ihsaa, STX Patraikos, OEL Trust, Water Breeze, Moor and Daewoo Diamond with four container ships, two chemicals carriers and one naphtha ship respectively are due to arrive on Monday.
The total import cargo of 71,385 tonnes includes 56,583 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,130 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 5,206 tonnes of paraxyline and 5,466 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 18,212 tonnes includes 3,270 tonnes of cement and 14,942 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A container ship namely CV MSC Roberta sailed out to sea on Saturday morning. A total number of six vessels CV MSC Roberta, MV Opal-II, MV Sargodha, MV Lord Byron, MT Kassos and MT Golden Ambrosia are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seeds and paraxyline respectively during last 24 hours.
Four ships namely Al-Salam-II, Silver Star, Alaska-II and Long Chemp with containers, rice, cement and LPG respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz CV CMA CGM Eiffel, CV Lotus and STX Hero are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Saturday.
