Two American universities are offering split degree programme in collaboration with the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) to postgraduate students to conduct their research, said UVAS Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Professor Dr Nasim Ahmad.
Dr Ahmad who got back from the US recently further said that UVAS and Michigan State University and West Virginia University have agreed to strengthen their relationship by collaborating in split degree programmes in the area of animal reproduction as per international standards.
During his visit Dr Ahmad had meetings with official and scientists of various institutions including national academies, national institute of food and agriculture of USDA, national institute of health. He delivered lectures on the significance of buffalo at the Michigan State University and West Virginia University. He also discussed with them about the possibility of student and faculty exchange programmes on short and long term basis and starting joint research projects and other academic activities in order to get benefit from each other's knowledge and expertise.
During his visit Dr Ahmad met with Kelly Robbins, senior programme officer at the national academy in Washington DC and reviewed the progress of his ongoing research project on new approaches of synchronisation in dairy animals and the forthcoming funding opportunities.
