CDGK staff being deprived of basic facilities

Staffer employed in media management department(MMD) of City District Government Karachi (CDGK) have been deprived of even basic facilities, causing immense problems for them in discharging their duties prudently, learned Business Recorder on Tuesday.
Sources said that money appropriated for media management department of CDGK has been withheld for the last four months. They said despite several intimations from the officials of media management department, the said money has not yet been released.
In addition, the media management department is also lacking from facilities including seating arrangements, air conditioners and stationery items, etc. The cleanliness condition on the floors is also pathetic; while the washrooms on the floor are portraying extremely dirty look. Official told Business Recorder that high-ups are least concerned on the problems of the department besides several written applications have been given to them but of no avail.
"Our computers have become out of order and we have no alternate arrangement to carry out our routine work", he said, adding that entire strength of media management has been sandwiched between offices of District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) and City Administrator.
Marks of spitting are also seen on almost every floor in Civic Center, which prove the best breeding ground for mosquitoes and other flying insects. It is worth mentioning that the CDGK administration has conducted fumigation campaign in entire city, but not even a single of fumigation spray has been conducted in Civic Center.
On the other hand, the employees of CDGK are also deprived of the salary of previous month (September), adding that the 15 percent revised salary increment, imposed in Budget 2011-12 in June has not yet been implemented. Sources in CDGK told Business Recorder that they are here to hide the flaws of City Government. "When some one, particularly the media man asks us about the salary issue, every time we replied: No issue in getting the salaries, as we are directed not to speak against CDGK management", he added.
Business Recorder also learned that three out five elevators of main building of CDGK are also out of order. Officers and general public visiting CDGK for their work have been witnessed standing in long queues to get in other two other functional elevators to arrive at their desired offices. Sources further added if they start speaking truth, then the officials of entire media management department would be suspended for ever on the very next day.
