Awarding honorary degree to Malik: KU students stage protest demonstration

A large number of students of University of Karachi on Tuesday staged protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club against awarding an honorary degree of doctorate to Interior Minister Rahman Malik. The students were holding banners, placards and chanting slogans against the KU administration and Rahman Malik. They also demanded immediate withdrawal of the decision.
Addressing the demonstration Islami Jamait Talba (IJT) leader Abdul Muktadar Gazi said that Karachi University's decision of awarding an honorary degree to a controversial personality like Rehman Malik was a gloomy chapter in the history of University of Karachi. He said that the University of Karachi decided to award him an honorary degree of doctorate without approval of varsity syndicate. He further said that students of the university strongly condemned this decision and demand its immediate withdrawal.
