ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani has said that Pakistan highly values it bilateral relations with France and desires to further expand cooperation in the fields of trade and economic, political and development sectors.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the French envoy who called on him here Tuesday at the Parliament House.

They agreed to enhance economic and political ties for mutual benefit of the people of two sides. “There is a huge potential to increase the trade volume from which both sides could benefit” Raza Rabbani said.

The meeting also focused on boosting parliamentary cooperation and give parliamentary diplomacy a chance to remove mis-perceptions thus bringing the people of two states closer. “Contacts between the parliamentarians and parliamentary secretariats would help explore more avenues of cooperation between Pakistan and France,” Raza Rabbani opined.

He said Pakistan has played the role of front-line state in war against terror and the world must recognize its contribution in eliminating the menace and efforts for regional peace.

He said Pakistan has paid a huge price in war on terror as more than 70,000 persons including armed forces personnel, men and women have sacrificed their lives.

He observed that Pakistan and France have supported each other on global and regional forums and there is need to further strengthen bilateral cooperation at all levels.
