Seven more persons lost their lives in rain-related incidents in different areas of the city on Tuesday, as the city received longest spell of the ongoing monsoon season. According to police and rescuers, two brothers who were identified as Gul Din, 55, and Ilyas, 52, were killed when the wall of their house in Wahid Colony, North Nazimabad, collapsed.
Police said both the victims, who used to run private business, died on spot. Two persons including a woman lost their lives while another injured in similar incident near Kati Pahari, North Nazimabad. The victims were identified as Roshan Khan and Bilqees Bibi, 40, while the injured as Faraz. A shopkeeper, Mohammad Zahid, 50, son of Abdullah, was electrocuted near Burns road. Police said the deceased, who was passing through Burns road, was electrocuted when electricity fell into the rainwater accumulated on the road.
Another man, Liaquat, 55, was electrocuted near Ghas Mandi area due to similar reason. An employee of KESC, Syed Sabir Hussain Shah, was killed and his wife and son injured when his motorcycle slipped near Northern Bypass. Five people were injured when roof of a house collapsed in Rasheedabad. A body of 14-year-old boy, who fell into a manhole near Guru Mandir on Saturday, was recovered.
